About

Welcome to GIGL (Glaciochemistry and Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory): a University of Michigan facility for the study of radiogenic, radioactive and stable isotopes in the earth sciences. We currently are working on projects in ice core research, glaciers and ice sheets, dust transport, chemical oceanography, and soils. Our facilities are geared toward high-precision, high-accuracy measurements of a variety of isotopic systems including U-series, Sr, Nd, Hf, and B.  And, we aren’t just lab rats – we love the field! ….we try and spend every chance we get outside exploring relationships on the earth’s surface.  Past field excursions include the Canadian Rockies, coastal Alaska, Greenland and Antarctica. You can read more about our group and our research here and here.
